India Kolkata Chapter of Internet Society

The Internet Society (ISOC) is a nonprofit organisation founded in 1992 to provide leadership in Internet related standards, education, and policy. With offices in Washington, USA, and Geneva, Switzerland, it is dedicated to ensuring the open development, evolution and use of the Internet for the benefit of people throughout the world. In this context, the Chapters of ISOC are the nodal points to carry forward the mission of ISOC with regional and local perspective.
India Kolkata Chapter of ISOC is being formed with the following purpose:
a. to serve the interests of a segment of the global Internet community through a local presence, focus on local issues and developments, and increased use of local languages for Internet.
b. To further educate West Bengal’s scientific community, local businesses, and the public at large with respect to the technology, use, and applications of the Internet;
c. To promote educational applications of Internet technology in State of West Bengal for the benefit of government, schools, colleges, and universities, industry, and the public at large;

d. To provide a forum for local entrepreneurs, professionals, students, and government officials to explore and help develop new Internet application, and to stimulate collaboration among organizations in their operational use of the Internet.

All are requested to join ISOC as Global member and then choose the Kolkata Chapter for action and contribute to the Development of Internet.
